PCOS name change
This has been officially changed to Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome
PMOS abbreviation. This is to reflect the overall metabolic nature of the condition. Initial treatments and workup remain the same. AMH has been added to the diagnostic criteria. Raised AMH is an alternate option to PMOS changes on USS.
Nexplanon UK license change to 5years
This was previously 3 years. CoSRH statement that pregnancy rate in year 4 & 5 of use did not increase. The EU license has not yet been updated but this is expected to follow. Off license use can be explained to patients but in practice we are advising that Nexplanon is a 5year contraceptive device. This includes devices already in situ.
Increased availability and use of DRSP 4mg POP (Slynd/slinda/Slyndy).
This can be used off license (as per BMS guidelines) for the endometrial protection component of HRT (up to high dose on extrapolated evidence). Patients should be advised to skip placebo pills. Additional considerations: C/I in Addison’s disease and need to consider hyperkalemia risk if patient is on medications that increase the risk of same. Consider U&E if risk factors for CKD or >50years old. Note 24hr missed pill window.
